Donegal Sports Partnership

With the days lengthening and the weather getting a bit warmer it’s time once again to get our walking gear on and get walking Donegal!

With your help it Donegal Walking Week (22nd to 29th May 2011) can build on the success of previous years.  We are indebted to all the communities over the last number of years who have participated in, organised or supported in any way the Donegal Walking Week initiative.  We hope to build on further walks in all our communities in order to get as many people as possible of all abilities walking for fitness, health or the social benefits.

This year through the web site www.letswalkdonegal.com we will be putting a bigger emphasis on getting Donegal ‘Active’.  The website will also map all registered walks including information on the walk theme, distance, difficulty level and accessibility. The site will include tips on walking and a list of walking education programmes such as walking leaders, FitWalk, FleetFeet and FittleSticks workshops and walking related topics on the environment and on health.

FREE PROMOTION:  All walks will be listed on www.letswalkdonegal.com and promoted through agency websites, programme brochures and local media publications.  Leaders / Organiser who register their walks with Donegal Sports Partnership will also receive a registration information pack.

I have included an information note and registration form for your information and attention and we sincerely hope that you will come on board to support the programme for 2011.  We will within our resources do our best to support you.

On behalf of all the organising agencies, we also look forward to working and walking with you during the 2011 Walking Week.

Yours sincerely

Myles Sweeney,

Coordinator, Donegal Sports Partnership
